SEO Strategies & Techniques
Off Site SEO
Keyword Research
Optimising a website around the wrong keywords will have an adverse effect on what you aim to achieve, as it won’t generate as many website visitors and those that do visit may not convert into sales/leads. The SEO results can end up being a waste of time and resources. Thats why at Crashe we take time to research your keywords by looking at:
- Your Website
- Your Competitors
- Your Market Sector
- Your Products
- Your Services
- Your Goals
Only when we are happy we have all this information do we then decide what keywords and key phrases to use for the website optimisation process. To do this we use a number of automated keyword generation and website analysis tools as well as manual data mining techniques to find niche keywords and popular search terms that will target the visitors that you want.
Geo Targeted Optimisation
If your business only serves a particular area or covers a small part of the UK then we can specifically target keywords, key phrases, websites and directories that serve these areas. This will lead to a much more focussed SEO campaign that will bring you the right visitors.
Position Monitoring
Checking the positions of your web pages on the search engines is a key measurement of how well the optimisation is working. Generally the higher up the rankings you are the more visitors you are likely to get, bringing you more leads which ultimately turn into conversions/sales. At Crashe we monitor and report positions on a regular basis and always aim for top 10 positions on Google, Yahoo and MSN with a long term strategy of maintaining these positions once reached.
External Link Building
Link building from external sites has always been a difficult area to tackle but over the years we have developed techniques that allow us to find websites that are not only relevant to your industry but relevent to your products and/or services. Our link building strategies and ethical background mean we avoid link farms, useless directories and low ranked websites and can be sure that you always get much higher quality links to your site.
Search Engine Submissions
Submitting websites to search engines is seen by some people as a waste of time and to a certain extent we agree but we have tried both submitting and not submitting to the search engines and have found that it is worth while. There is no doubt that your website will be found eventually but a one off submission to each of the major and some of the minor search engines can speed things up considerably.
Directory Submissions
There are many directories out there and you really have to look hard for the ones that are going to bring in visitors of a good quality or help to raise the profile of your website. Our policy is to only submit to the major directories (like DMOZ and Yahoo), directories with a good page rank or area specific directories that can enhance your websites local presence.
Analytics & ROI
The package we usually use for monitoring visitor activity and conversions is a free service operated by Google called Google Analytics. Before we start any SEO or website marketing we install script code on each of your webpages which is activated each time a visitor arrives at and navigates around your website. The analytics data gathered is comprehensive enough for us to see:
- Number of unique vistors
- Visitor keywords
- Time spent on each webpage
- Landing & exit pages
- Website hotspots
- Number of conversions
- Traffic sources
Google Analytics also allows us to produce comparison reports so we can see how well the SEO and website marketing is doing month on month.
On Site SEO
Meta / Alt Tags
The meta and alt tags are used by the search engines to determine the main focus of the webpage. It is important that they reflect the content on the page accurately and contain keywords/key phrases that describe your business services that you wish to promote.
We currently optimise the following tags:
- Meta Title - Still considered one of the most important of the meta tags
- Meta Description - An accurate description of each webpage is important (duplication can have a detrimental effect)
- Meta Keyword - Has been used by spammers in the past but is still used by some search engines
- Alt Tag - These are the labels that describe the images on your web page
Website Content
It is important that the content of your website reflects your business but equally important is the keywords/phrases within your content. Crashe will help to optimise the content around particular keywords/phrases that you wish to be found on the search engines.
Internal or Contextual Linking
Internal linking within a website is helpful in many ways, it can help the visitor find what they want quickly, it can assist the search engines to crawl your website and by linking keywords to relevant pages can add weight to the overall optimisation of the website.
CMS or FTP access may be required in order to carry out on site optimisation of your website
